Come inside my head

I’ve been doing some thinking lately about life in general and how things have changed. I can remember a time when you knew your neighbors and their children, knew the names of the police officers and firemen, the ladies at the bank, the clerks at the stores, and when people actually talked to one another. Somehow that has all changed and I don’t know why. I only know that I find it sad.

Why is it that we are afraid to say hello ??? Why is it that we don’t say what we mean ??? What have we, as a society, become ??? Nobody seems to care what anybody else does or, if they do, they do not say anything. Why is this ??? Am I becoming something of an oddity as I age ???

You see, I do take the time to get to know my neighbors. I take an interest in what they are doing and take the time to talk to them and get to know them. I know the names of the clerks at the stores I shop. I know the name of my local police officer and I wave to him and talk to him when I have the chance. The people that I know are people that I care about and I tell them my opinions and offer my advice. In return they do the same for me.

How do you find your way in life if you never receive feedback ??? Can any one of us say that we have all the answers or that we know exactly how to live ??? I don’t believe so. I count on others to tell me how I am doing in life and, in return, I feel it’s my duty to do the same for them. In short, I involve myself in the lives of those who are around me.
